Is nothing sacred?

Cyclingnews.com shows us that Shimano appears to have entered the carbon-crank market. Why? - I don’t know. After my initial shock when the current Dura Ace crank was introduced, I fell in love with the aesthetic. I appreciated Shimano’s decision to stay with their Hollowtech Aluminum cranks. Now it appears that market pressures have pushed them into carbon. What’s next…11speed?
I thought the same thing and I love my DA cranks, best cranks I’ve ever ridden. It took a while, especially with the satin finish, but now I don’t know if I’d part with them. As noted in the related article, is carbon worth it? Deda is making alum stems that are way lighter than carbon.
Well, if you aren’t label-snobby, they can just push the DA stuff down to Ultegra SL level and so forth…
Akatsuki - I’m not a label-snob…Except on my race bike :).
I’d likely just go with the old crank with new rings. I would also expect Shimano to offer the carbon crank as an option and not force it with the group.
Either way - this is still a couple years out I’d imagine.
