So what’s a bike hugger to do when Ken Schram’s commentary is about cyclists? Call him out and no need to go negative with Ken. Just say, “how bout you ride with me during the traffic apocalypse next week?” Don’t need no spandex, I’ll show you a sharrow, maybe join a bike bus, we’ll get a cup of coffee, and share a cyclist’s perspective on traffic, the cops of Lake Forest Park, SUV drivers, and the shame that is Seattle traffic.

I’ve called out Ken Schram in the past, back when he was dead wrong about the Critical Mass incident. The thing to remember with Ken is that he’s a paid real-life internet troll. He doesn’t have a dog in the fight other than to be provocative, and like any other troll his stated opinions don’t really matter when it comes down to it. It’d be great to see him out on a bike!
Sigh… I probably shouldn’t have, but I sent him an email. It’s on my new xtracycle/bike transpo blog. (http://carfreedays.wordpress.com/2007/08/10/my-email-to-ken-schram/) if you care…
I feel myself getting sucked into this car v. bike debate and I don’t wanna waste the energy.
just to let you know, those tickets cost you about $91. the cop is clearly not interested in giving warnings. don’t worry, i didn’t learn anything from this incident.
Rules are rules. If we want to change the rules, then we must follow the procedures. Just because we have two wheels and tight pants doesn’t put us above the law.
Yes there is a difference between cars and bikes. Bikes have no engine; completely human powered. Traffic laws are written for motor vehicles. They have no consideration for the self powered vehicle. Most of these current rules are wasteful, if not dangerous for bicycling.
