Interbike

Vegas baby - Vegas! So the ‘hugger crew is heading to Interbike 2007 and I’m looking for some direction from our readers. I’ll be armed with a Nikon D40 and many gig’s of memory to grab photos of anything I can. What I’m looking for from you is - What do you want to see? Check out Interbike to get the list of vendors and leave a comment on what you’d like to see on our Interbike Coverage and BikeHugger Photostream. Maybe there’s somebody there who won’t show up on the main-stream cycling sites. We’ll be there to shoot it up and get you the insider info.

Update:

This is what I’ve captured so far - keep them coming!

  • Pashley Cycles
  • Town/Commuter bikes
  • Shimano Alfine
  • New Raleighs - Touring bike with discs, the 2008 One Way,
  • Gary Fishers - Simple City
  • Steel Commuters
  • Single Speed / 1x9 variety Commuters
  • Novara
  • Blogger Meet up/Hook up

Hi, Be sure to visit Pashley Cycles at booth 236 and at the outdoor event in the Road bike area. We will have some Pashley Moulton TSR’s as well as Classic Roadster bikes for you to see and ride. Hand Made in England.

I want to see coverage of town/commuter bikes. Hopefully there will be some bikes available stateside with the Shimano Alfine group and disc brakes. I have been looking for over a year and not found anything.. Please tell me some will finally figure it out there there are users that want a nice commuter with out having to go custom.

Utility/Commuter/Town bikes will certainly be a focus for me. I’ve been hunting for an Alfine rear hub since I first saw them last year. Our local Shimano Rep said it’s a no-go for the US market last I spoke with him. Maybe I can shake one free at Interbike. It sure is some pretty stuff.

I would like to see pics of the new Raleighs and Gary Fishers, for sure. Raleigh is supposed to introduce a touring bike with discs, and the 2008 One Way, which is coming with Brooks saddle and bar tape, and a nice green paint job. Gary Fisher, of course, should show the Simple City—-and that looks like a keeper. Whether Gary Fisher dealers will stock a town bike with a basket remains to be seen, but it looks like a cool bike.

I haven’t heard yet: will there be a blogger meetup at Interbike?

I’m a big fan of the one-way. I can’t wait to see the 2008 offering.

Yes on the meetup, even a hookup, watch this space for an announcement …

Loring,

I’m visiting London later this Fall, are you near London, and we can visit?

Definitely interested in the commuting options, especially steel and of the SS or 1x9 variety (One Way, 925, etc.). You should put an idea in Novara’s head to look at expanding the commuting line to more than the Fusion and Transfer… like a steel mashup of the Reason, Fusion and Big Buzz.

K - I’m actually working with MarkV from Elliott Bay Bicycles on such a beast. EBB is a dealer for ZedSport who imports the On-One Pompino from the UK. Steel cyclocross bike with 135 spacing. I’ll run it with freewheel/fixed gear and then built it up with an internal geared hub later (e.g. when I get more cash) to make my 20 mile commute a bit more comfortable. I’ll blog all about it when I get it done.

DL, 2 hour train ride West of London. http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/heartofengland/londonstratford.htm I am sure something can be arranged if you can visit. Come see me at Interbike. I am based in the states. Loring
