By now Dwell Magazine is arriving in the mail and on newsstands with an urban bike report. Bike Hugger provided the expert commentary for the report and other insights. Check the related story online and see these snapshots I took during the photoshoot. Bikes in the report include

There’s also a short blurb on sport-utility bikes, Bettie 2.0, and Xtracycle.

Read our urban bike tag archives for ongoing coverage and the Flickr Urban Bike group. That’s the stylish Hugga Tee I’m wearing and the photo was taken at Elliott Bay Bicycles near bike stand number 2.

Pretty cool that articles about bikes are appearing outside of bike magazines.

But why the heck did they shoot you inside of a bike shop??

Yeah, my co-worker brought in the mag yesterday…he recognized Bike Hugger! Very nicely done & well-stated… :)

Patria,

Readers started emailing me, that’s how I learned it was finally out! Thanks.

Fritz,

The photographer, Andy Reynolds, shot several scenes and the mag editors picked that one. The outside ones besides the Serras I dug the most (those are my snapshots during the photoshoot).

Citing me as an expert, I guess that’s me looking expert like studying a Krysium SL hub.

Krysrium wheelsets go well with city bikes, fer sure ;-)

The Hugga T looks good, BTW!

Hey ah… Byron… I’m not saying I’m an expert however seeing as how I do work in that shop… That sure looks like an ES wheel not an SL

I’m just sayin thats all

dwell introduced me to Bike Hugger and I am SO glad they did. I have spent several of the last 24 hours reading up, and wishing LA was as commute friendly as Seattle.

I am wondering how one goes about getting an ALTA bike, that thing is HOT. I emailed the company, but have yet to hear back. Do you know if anyone in the States is going to have this bike?

Again, awesome site. and the Bettie makes me want to get my build on.

That’s the SL which was based on the ES. Mavic changed all the names in a product refresh and added their new carbon-spoke one. Why they’re not offering new deep section carbon, don’t know.

Aaron,

I’d like to see those in the states as well, but you could also build one up and get those giant bars yourself. Any shop with messenger cred could help you.

And thanks . . watch for Bettie 2.0, we’ll start that soon. We’re working on the Modal now.

byron, that’s an ES. we don’t have any 2008 SL’s yet. and mavic has TWO new deep section wheels, the Cosmic Carbone Premium and the Cosmic Carbone Ultimate in addition to last years Cosmic Carbone. but yes, there is a carbon spoked wheel called the R-SYS.

Mark V,

See how confusing their product line is … let’s get those new wheels in from the rep, test, and review (I just looked online and thought they were SL, but they are, but not those ones).

You rode the R-SYS when they came out, I recalled.

Regardless, the number 2 stand there looks pretty good and so does the article.
