Versus: F-bomb, El Dope Penis, and more

Vaughters dropping the F-Bomb on Vs. live tour coverage today reminded of some other inappropriate things we’ve seen. Including
- Various racers peeing off the bike — that’s a given, watch for it (or don’t)
- El Dope Penis graffiti - In the Lance days, you could always spot a large, dripping phallic/syringe symbol on the mountain stages
- Punching fans — I can’t remember who, but did see a racer stiff-arm a fan that got too close.
My all-time fav besides the Longhorn dude, is Borat from last year.
Honorable mention is “nervous Sheryl Crow,” while not really shocking, just the camera lingering on her was not something you see in every tour. Also, while I’ve tried, I still haven’t seen any girls flashing the peloton. I’m sure that has to happen at some point.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen or heard in the Tour coverage?
One of my favorite moments, aside from those already mentioned, was a moment i captured in a photo during lance’s last year. We were across from the VIP area at a ITT. During the day Lance’s kids and Sheryl showed up and hung out across the road from us. One of the kids was playing with a waterbottle then all of a sudden dropped it over the barrier into the road! No riders were coming yet so Rock Star Sheryl sprung into action and reached waaaay under the fence and grabbed it while on all fours. So down to earth, that one.

Wladimir Belli was kicked out of the Giro for punching Simoni’s hooligan (who ended up to be Simoni’s nephew or something).
I can’t remember what stage it was but last year the versus crew thought they went to commercial but they kept showing footage while you could hear Phil, Paul, and Bob talking. It was cool because they were like little kids all excited and unscripted, vigorously enjoying the sport of cycling.
I remember seeing coverage with Belli punching that guy…man, it was beautiful. Dead in the face.

YES! that’s it exactly….i remember that Belli didn’t even break climbing rhythm. of course, that was the Giro, not the Tour.
As for crazy stuff at le Tour, how about 1994 when that policeman stepped in front of the bunch sprint? The Belgian champ Nelissen plowed him down and half the bunch stacked it on top.
And there was I think, “the crab” who punched Simoni and got kicked out of the Giro? I may have that totally wrong, but I know two racers fought on the bike and one got kicked out.
Such beautiful Lego work! That is really awesome.
