I was recently asked to put a top-ten bike blog list together for blogs.com and I pulled these from my feedreader
- Cyclelicious
- EcoVelo
- Masi Guy
- Bicycle Design
- Bike Snob NYC
- Urban Velo
- Commute By Bike
- Guitar Ted
- Fat Cyclist
- TDF Blog
Readers, do you have bike blogs to add?
Note: It’s remarkable how many bike blogs there are and I’m talking about that on a Social Media Panel next month during Interbike.

Hey, I have to plug mine! It’s pretty interesting :) How many eco-friendly bicycling photographers do you know?
http://russroca.blogspot.com/
Also, I’m a big fan of:
http://kentsbike.blogspot.com/ http://blogs.phred.org/blogs/alex_wetmore/default.aspx http://velo-orange.blogspot.com
Russ and readers plug away— my new fav is Eco-Velo, it’s beautiful. Honestly, I’m not into popularity contests and don’t really read those in a top-ten manner, but cyclicious gets big props for being an old-school blog, just linking up stuff. And Fritz has been seen in a hugga jersey!
I’ve got to give a second vote to Alex Wetmore. He helped me out with my Nexus hub to get it spaced out just right for my Pompino.
His shop is like a grown man’s toy store. He’s got more metal working equipment than any hobbyist I’ve ever seen. Some of his creations are truly amazing.
I would add Road Cycler. I actually found Bike Hugger through a link on that blog, and glad I did!
Copenhagen Cycling Chic
So now you need to put together a list of bike podcasts. Hint hint.
www.thefredcast.com
www.the-spokesmen.com
Oops, was that too blatant?!? ;-)
@Fredcast
Please add more to that and a self-plug for ours: Huggacast.
I read “Bike Commute Tips Blog” religiously:
http://bikecommutetips.blogspot.com/
Can’t beat bikes and fashion at Velo Vogue
I’d plug mine, but I frequently stray into other topics, and it’s just not that interesting. Stay the hell away from my blog.
But I definitely second Kent’s Bike Blog, and ya gotta get Large Fella on a Bike in there too. I follow TheWashCycle for DC area cycling and advocacy news, Amsterdamize for pretty pics and movies of people biking without helmets or clipless shoes on real bike infrastructure, and How to Avoid the Bummer Life because it’s always, always excellent.
“Ultimate Guide to Bicycling Culture”, contains important links, real issues, a new blog and comments section.
Book temporarily published open source by a long time East Coast cycling activist.
Thanks for including my blog on your list. I seem to be in good company. There are so many great bike blogs out there and I could list quite a few, but I’ll just throw out three more that I read:
http://www.belgiumkneewarmers.com/ http://kwc.org/cycling/ http://cozybeehive.blogspot.com/
http://raleighcommutes.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the list, by the way. Now I can waste even more time at work reading even more bike blogs!
Ditto on Kent’s Bike Blog. Frequency of post is down, but quality remains high. I’m also partial to, you know, BikeHacks… :-)
It’s seems the number of good bike blogs has exploded in the last year. I have too many in my feed reader to keep up.
I read most of the ones already listed. Here are a few more.
Up in Alaska
Biking Bis
The Bicycle Tutor
The Everyday Athlete
Bicycle Frenzy
Epic Riding, Epic Writing
Don’t forget WashCycle & Bike Portland. While both have local focuses, their advocacy coverage is great. Also, Street Films out of NYC has great videos on what is going on around the world in better streets and transportation advocacy.
I’m partial to AustinBikeBlog (http://austinbikeblog.com) and the Boulder Report (http://boulderreport.bicycling.com/) in addition to many others you’ve mentioned.
@microzen -
BikePortland.org is painful these days. It used to have interesting stories and comments, but it has grown so “beat me over the head with advococy and local government” that I can no longer handle it. I pulled that noise from my feed.
Good: Dave Moulton’s Bike Blog
Good: Pinch Flat News
Good: Dutch Bike Blog
Shameless Plug: Velotopia
Thanks for the props. We have a pretty long list of other blogs, websites, zines, etc., on our site: http://urbanvelo.org/linklove/
Golly, Byron, that’s so sweet of you. I need to wear your Bike Hugger jersey today just for you.
I have most of those listed above in my feed reader, though eco velo is new to me — I’ll need to check that out.
All,
My blogs.com guest top-ten list is published.
Hey Byron,
I’m sincerely flattered to be included in such an esteemed list - thanks!
Alan @ EcoVelo
Throwing out a blatant self plug ;) http://www.bikemandan.com/blog/
Earlier responses cover many of my favorites, including Dave Moulton’s, Kent Pedersen’s, BKW, and Ecovelo.
However, one I did not see is the absolutely essential Drunkcyclist: http://drunkcyclist.com
Most of my picks are already here.
But I like this guys crazy training/racing blog http://www.jeffkerkove.net/
Christine Vardaros racing cross in europe: http://christinevardaros.blogspot.com/
Mud and Cowbells: http://mudandcowbells.blogspot.com/
And I’ll throw mine in the mix: http://robonza.blogspot.com/
-Joe
My blog:http://bowelsofjohn.blogspot.com/
Messenger races and events, Mountain biking trips, Death Marches, many varied photos.
Okay, I’ll add mine as well.
http://www.bikeworldnews.com
Racing, products and technology, bike culture, etc.
Since everyone else is plugging their own, mine is the Old Bike Blog: http://oldbikeblog.blogspot.com, and I’ve started a new one, still in the development stages, called The Cycling Gentleman: http://cyclingentleman.wordpress.com).
I also like Hank and Me (http://hankandme.blogspot.com).
You gotta check out the Alliance for Community Choice in Transportation out of Charlottesville, VA:
http://ACCTcville.blogspot.com
Thanks and keep up the great work!
May I add two of my own?
One on the best places to ride and tips on cycling in Europe: http://cyclingeurope.wordpress.com
And one on indoor cycling (although, my goal is to keep it as relevant to outdoor cycling as possible): http://funhogspins.blogspot.com
I enjoyed the Interbike Web 2.0 panels very much! Thanks for all the great info!
This one always makes my jaw drop: http://www.bikerubbish.com/bikey/
And of course: http://blog.thepracticalcyclist.org
Based in London, UK. NO Endeavour like a bit of bike-on-bike action…

I run an online cycling blog too! Wooo
It is: http://www.londoncyclist.co.uk
