Ashtabula!!!! Seriously, are cartridge bearings permanently installed around it, or is it loose-ball? I’m trying to wrap my head around how it actually gets put into/taken out of the frame and how the bearings work?
the left side of the bottom bracket has an adjustable lockring with a pinch bolt. you’d use the lockring to pre-load the bearings. The bearings are removable, 65mm OD/50mm ID/7mm wide.
So, the left arm is smaller than the 50mm ID of the bearings(cartridge?), so they slip off over the arm?
exactly. Plus you can see a little recessed portion on the spindle….that’s to help the crank slip thru the BB shell. check out Huggacast 45, there are some views of the crank in the LOOK 596 bike.
