Wood War Bike

Photos like these of wood bikes in war-torn Africa, get my attention every time and remind me to be thankful for what we've got. At Interbike, I've seen Tom Ritchey with one of these bikes next to his Project Rwanda bike. This ain't wood as a retro-fashion statement, it's a material used out of necessity and ingenuity. We'll give bikes to Africa again this year and hopefully help someone.

As lame as Outside magazine is they occassionally have a good article - here is the one about Tom Ritchey and Wooden Bikes in Rwanda http://outside.away.com/outside/destinations/200809/rwanda-biking-1.html

That’s correct and a good link. I also read a very moving article about BikeTown in Bicycling.

I don’t think Cavendish will win the green jersey, let alone come in second. He’s proven to turn in his race number as soon as the course

It’s interesting that Team Type 1 had a pro in the race last year and lost. No pros this year and they win.
