Quick bailouts would be accomplished by pulling foot, shoe and binding from the pedal. Granted, you’d look goofy, but it’s not like you’re locked in. That said, you won’t see me wearing a pair of these.... Read more »
Whoever invented this: YES PLEASE. Get this to market stat, and make sure it has the ability to mount something like an automobile roof rack or hitch rack to it.

Yawn, it’s been done before. Back in the 90s there was a nearly identical product. It was aimed at triathletes competing in short course events. The idea was that you’d save more time using the adapter and your racing flats rather than first putting on cycling shoes and then having... Read more »
I don’t really think this product will take off there are too many other options, almost every pedal has some sort of clip-on platform for riding in conventional shoes. Also there are so many disused older toe clip systems out there too.... Read more »
I know why micro USB is going to be the future, however this product wasn’t released in the future. It’s available now, and is not a long-term investment like a set of high-end lights. It’s not a deal killer, as I said it’s just an issue that irritates me, it... Read more »
It bears pointing out that the kind of road debris that trashed Byron’s rim likely wouldn’t have had little chance to foul a rotor, and the damage would be substantially easier to repair. Personally, I’m upgrading my Cross-Check commuter to a disc fork and wheel. After that I’ll finish the... Read more »
@GlennF @jeffcarlson you guys written about ical attachments in iOS? Cause that's far more annoying that any new iTunes service or the UI.

high performance/racing rims usually don’t have the wear indicators. i suspect that the CPSC has a hand in it, but i couldn’t be bothered to research it a worn rim will actually get wider as you inflate a tire, and it’s this deflection which is really fatiguing the metal. if... Read more »
@Ben is right — you can tell with your finger that the rim has grooves in it and a concave shape. A good precaution is to check your pads periodically and remove the aluminum shards from it. Some brake pads pick up the shards more than others. I destroyed a... Read more »

Thank Apple for locking down the dock connector, and depriving you of a proper USB connection, anyway. Down the road, but in the very near future, it would be annoying that the cable was mini-USB instead. Micro is the way forward, and an extra boot in that direction is the... Read more »

I’ve been dropping cultural shifts required into my posts too and even just recently said, “let’s stop living vicariously through Amsterdam and Copenhagen.” Our cites weren’t built 400 years ago with roads for carriages and with markets a walk away. Once you’ve been there you better understand that they don’t... Read more »

This is sad to hear. It was the early 80’s, Team 7-11, “Hell of the West”(Coors Classic) days that got me into cycling. I remember Fignon always looking like a cross between Sting and a spectacled professor. When he rode for Systeme U, my brother and I both bought our... Read more »

Eyes are drawn immediately to the bottom-bracket area and a wonder of “what can it do.” Will it whip around like a swizzle stick in a cheap Vegas cocktail or deliver like a heavy bakfiets? Is it better than bent tentpoles and lawn-chair webbing held together with a skateboard? Let’s... Read more »

Making kids bikes with regular dropouts for car racks is brilliant. Specialized makes shims for Shimano and possibly SRAM that shortens the lever pull for the brakes.
