We periodically write about technology, mobility, and gadgets. Our travels to Asia have been to attend Intel Developer Forums and blog about Mobile Internet Devices, NetBooks, and more — we also covered CES and its totally overwhelming consumerism.
A technology I’ve been following is small-form factor, ultra-portable laptops, and have been watching the Macbook Air since it came out.

Well timed with our trip to the Intel Developer Forum Taipei, a reader tipped us to a new MIT Research project in Denmark called CopenCycle that features SmartBiking
a novel self-organizing smart-tag system that will allow the city’s residents to exchange basic information and share their relative positioning with each other.
The Taipei mix was in effect at an eclectic blogger party last night. Attendees included a local celebrity, conductor, bike maker, teachers, students, photogs, authors, and us. We talked blogs, social media, politics, and checked out Intel-powered MIDs prototypes that Pankaj Kedia, Director Global Ecosystems Programs, brought. We also gave out scwhag from Crumpler, Versus, and SXSW.
Hunting for some computer supplies on Saturday morning, I ran into these urban single speed commuters branded by the high-end metalware maker Georg Jensen. They’re beautiful in person, but utterly impractical.
We’re back in Taipei this weekend for blogging, bike riding with Dahon, and attending the Intel Developer Forum. We’re also hosting a party on Sunday and Taipei bloggers are invited.

We periodically blog about mobility, mobile tech, and devices and attend Intel Developer Forums — our Mobile Socials are an intersection of bike culture, mobile apps, and technology. We’re not at IDF San Francisco, but it’s all over the tech blogs and we’re following along.
It looks like a device between my iPhone and Macbook Pro will hit the market soon and it’s like those shown in this photo from UMPC Portal. It’s not a Macbook Air, because our bloggers need the space and power when traveling. I’d sure like to slip a thin, light, powerful computer into my Crumpler bag, ride to a meeting or a coffee shop, and get to work. Can’t do that now, but we’re getting there. I do work on the iPhone — the iPhone has blown open the mobile app market — but not for editing video, photos, or audio.
We were at a party last night in Shanghai and met a fellow bike racer … a perfect topic for Huggacast Episode Thirty Five.

Last night we toured the French concession with Robert from the Crash Test Dummy blog. Besides every other occupation you can imagine, Robert occasionally straps a camera to his bike, rides to work in Shanghai traffic, and uploads the video. We naturally have something in common. And besides introducing us to Yue-Sai Kan, the most famous women in China who also has a blog, we also talked about Shanghai at length. Living, working, riding here, and the culture.
And saw a glimpse of the Sun this morning. After more coffee it’s off to the Intel Developer Forum and all the new mobile technology.

I post with my iPhone and MacBookPro. While not recommend for the non-experienced rider (especially in traffic), I shoot on-the-bike video with a Casio Exilim and edit that in iMovie HD (the older version). We’ll move to Final Cut Pro later in the year with the arrival of the new Canon HDs camcorders. I also expect an incredible offering of mobblogging apps, as soon as developers figure out the iPhone SDK, Intel’s Atom products start showing up, and mobile internet devices mature. We’ll see a bunch of those devices tomorrow here in Shanghai.
