An all-new Top Fuel was unveiled as of this morning. And, we have a 2021 Top Fuel (the previous gen) in our stable of bikes. It’s a favorite whip; especially, now that we’re back riding in the Methow after the fires.
This version of the Top Fuel has evolved from XC racing to downcountry ripping. That’s the first I’ve heard the term downcountry too. It means a more capable, agile bike for climbing and descending. Trek achieves this balance with a 66-degree headtube angle (1.5 degrees slacker than previous models) and 10+mm more reach than before for increased stability at speed and on descents.
The 120mm of travel front and rear comes with either RockShox Deluxe Ultimate or FOX DSP trunnion-mounted shocks for heavy-hitting trail performance. Trek also improved their rear suspension kinematics for more efficient pedaling and less squat.
Trek ships the bike with their stowage system, more Knock Block radius (protects the frame), and at a budget for all riders in aluminum and carbon.
If Trek’s downcountry bike interests you, watch the launch webinar below. I appreciate the progressive geometry evolution Trek has done and also super happy with the Supercaliber. Their hardtail/suspension bike handles most of the trails available for me to ride.
