The 3T Exploro with AXS was just announced and with a fancy new paint job. The tl;dr: you can get a gravel bike with an insane range of 10-50T and the still very large 11-50t. 3T was ahead of its time…by a few seasons. That’s because SRAM hadn’t yet released 1x in a configuration like Eagle or AXS. Instead we got a CX hack, but that’s a topic for another post.
Another key point of this announcement, 3T is shipping this build with their Torno crank. It was specifically designed for 1x, looks fantastic, and is light with a full-carbon spider and axle. For you roadies, the Torno is similar to the Look Zed crankset, but for 1x. Considering the road, the 11-50 is likely a better choice with the cogs spaced a little closer.
In addition to the standard build, there is also an option to upgrade to our new DiscusPlus i28 LTD wheels (shown in the photos). Those combine 3T’s hubs with carbon rims and a wide 28mm internal width. If you prefer to stay on 700c wheels, you could also opt for the Discus 45 32 LTD wheels.
I’d suggest some combinations of both for rides in town and the country. I have a set of fast 700cs for my brown bike and bombproof 650bs. 3T is one of my favorite bike companies because they not only launched a 1Xx bike, but continue to double down on the market segment while also producing excellent quality. The Exploro is Mark V’s personal bike.
Find the specs for all of 3Ts bikes online. I can never figure 3T’s shopping cart out, but expect the Exploro with AXS to cost just under $10K with carbon wheels.
