Adidas Sport Eyewear launches a new performance line. Highlights include the SP001, SP0003, and SP00020. The eyewear includes their Kolor Up lens technology. It visually enhances surrounding light, color, and contrast. The lens tech works much like Chromapop from Smith and others.
The line covers most budgets with the best, SP001, costing $209 a pair. These frames are contemporary and versatile in style. Adidas states their eyewear will take you from the streets cycling to the mountain bike trail, and the golf course and back. I’d like to know if their lens covers fat biking in the snow, where only yellow-tinted lenses will do.
The wrap frames of the SP0001 and SP0015 are made of impact-resistant and ultra-lightweight TR90 material. The nose pads are four-position adjustable. The thin, wrap temples are outfitted with rubber tips for the perfect grip. There’s a metal temple core allowing easier adjustments. Additionally, a special safety hinge lock system to reduce the chance of lens scratches.
Equipped with a ventilation system to prevent fogging, each frame offers a one-click interchangeable lens system with two lens options for bright and low-light levels. Adidas included a urban styled pair as well. Adidas must have faith in the return of sports to launch such a broad line. It’s good to see. In comparison, I’m wearing Bolle’s.
