“It’s got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what? “
Every time I see Continental Town & Country tires, I think “cop tires”. I’ve seen them on countless police and security bicycles over the years; I think the Cannondale police bikes came standard with them. The T&C comes in 26 x 1.9” or 2.1” sizes. It’s an inverted tread design that rolls and corners in a decent manner if not exactly sporty. The tread is just enough (more than a Schwalbe Big Apple) to handle the occasional excursion into grass or gravel for a shortcut or perhaps pursuit of a suspect. It’s also a long wearing tire. Even if you’re not a cop, if you’re just looking for a durable city tire with enough volume to float like a Cadillac on a mission from God, these tires might be the ones for you.
