Can’t blame a marketer for tagging a product with gravel; even if they’re just a well designed, and made pair of baggies. Gravel/adventure and what I call drop-bar mountain biking is where the creative energy around the bike is; especially, in the Pacific Northwest.
Showers Pass, based in Portland, should be a brand well known to our readers. We’re riding in their gear—jackets, booties, hats— in the rainy season, so are Tour teams.
Unlike designers that only imagine what riding in the rain is like from their office cube, they actually spend the time slogging out the miles, just like us.
With legit rain-riding cred, I figured Showers Pass has ridden gravel too, and know what I’m interested in. And, that’s a semi-baggy short I can pull over a fav pair of road bibs. Baggies add a few pockets and protect Lycra from snags on the trail.
Priced at $89.00 they’re a good value too; considering how may expensive road bibs I already have. This time of year, I pair them with a wool jersey, and loosened up the waist cinches just a bit before fat biking in the Methow Valley.
Get yours direct from ShowersPass, at retailer near you, or Amazon. The shorts are part of their premium Cascade Collection. Check the edit below.
