KASK Nirvana Aero Helmet launched earlier today. It looks like a helmet us regular cyclists would wear. And, it moves air across your head. For years, aerodynamics has been crucial in the development of cycling products to achieve peak athletic performance. Now, KASK presents Nirvana: a helmet designed to minimize drag and maximize speed. KASK is the parent company of KOO, the eyewear I’m wearing this summer.
The development of this state-of-the-art aero helmet involved complex CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations to measure aerodynamic performance, ventilation, and thermoregulation.
KASK Nirvana Aero Helmet Design
The results of these simulations, combined with KASK’s two decades of expertise in creating innovative helmets, led to the Nirvana achieving a 35% reduction in aerodynamic drag and a 19% increase in ventilation compared to the best aero helmets in its class.
Nirvana features innovative ear covers that enhance airflow efficiency around the helmet. Internal channels are integrated to optimize thermoregulation for the front and top of the head, providing unprecedented levels of ventilation.
In addition to its speed, Nirvana prioritizes safety, adhering to KASK’s No. 1 standard. Like all KASK helmets, Nirvana is designed according to the KASK Rotational Impact WG11 Test, an internal testing protocol that evaluates helmet performance against rotational impacts.
Designed for dedicated riders, the Nirvana helmet features groundbreaking Multipod technology. This 3D-printed internal padding enhances the helmet’s ability to withstand linear and rotational impacts and functions isotropically, meaning it responds uniformly to forces from any direction.
Multipod’s unique design also significantly improves ventilation by allowing air to flow directly to the rider’s head. Additionally, Merino wool padding at the front and sides of the helmet ensures increased comfort and effective sweat absorption.
Nirvana’s technical features include KASK’s OCTOFIT+ adjustment system, which offers exceptional comfort and stability through micro-adjustments at the nape of the neck, and a classic faux-leather strap. The helmet also includes a sunglasses port at the front and a reflective graphic at the back for added safety.
KASK Nirvana Aero Helmet Availability
