Velocio Spring apparel is in rotation with their winter gear as cool temperatures and early snow arrive in the Methow Valley. Despite the chill, I’m avoiding the trainer entirely. For subfreezing, wet rides in the North Cascades or when I need all-day performance, I rely on Gore. But for warmer, winter temps, I mix in Velocio. It’s their style, comfort, and smart layering approach. I also prefer knickers over tights in wet conditions—less fabric to get soggy and weigh down the pad.
For those riding in warmer climates, check out Velocio’s Spring/Summer kit, which looks just as good as their winter line. I’m a fan of brushed fleece for off the bike comfort like this Ornot vest too.
Here’s what I’m layering with my winter gear from Velocio.
- LUXE Bib Short (performance bibs designed for distance riding and comfort)
- CONCEPT Merino Jersey (75% merino wool for good thermoregulation, plus it doesn’t stink)
- Signature Jersey (refined and versatile)
- Ultralight SL Baselayer (if you like wearing a baselayer)
- Ultralight Jacket or Ultralight Vest (for chillier mornings or long descents)
Another fav is the Merino Mesh SL Baselayer which offers a similar cut, and is made with a 51% Merino Wool / 49% Polyester blend.
